Rolling hills with whispers of wildlife.
Open skies flaunting starry nights.
Sizzling sausages while sipping flutes of fizz on the veranda.
Welcome to my cosy countryside lodges – The Chilterns View.
I’m Rachel, and I’ve lived here at Ewelme Down Farm for 20 years. My whole life has been spent on farms and surrounded by nature – but despite that, I’ve never been keen on roughing it outdoors.
I wanted to create somewhere that was comfy, cosy and relaxing but still embraced the beauty of being immersed in the glorious English countryside – and so The Chilterns View was born.
With each lodge set in its own secluded spot, offering uninterrupted views of the Chiltern Hills, I hope people will fall in love with this area, just as I did.
Lodges
My five lodges are nestled within the woods, each with their own secluded private entrance and a beautiful outlook over the Chiltern Hills.
All of the lodges have:
Outside:
- a veranda with stunning South-facing views
- outdoor furniture
- a hot tub
- a hammock
- a BBQ, with charcoal
- atmospheric outdoor lighting
Inside:
- a comfy king size bed
- a cosy sofa
- a log burning stove, with logs
- an en-suite bathroom with double shower
- a kitchenette with hob, kettle, toaster and microwave
- plenty of crockery and utensils
- cookery basics: salt, pepper, oil, butter
- a welcome hamper including bread, jam, milk, juice, and eggs from my own chickens

Cycling and Walking
The Chilterns View is sat right on the edge of the beautiful Chiltern Hills. Walk or cycle along the network of footpaths and bridleways that criss-cross the area and you’ll discover amazing views, chalk streams, peaceful woodlands, and wide-open vistas that go on for miles.
It is also easy to walk or cycle to our local pub, and there are many other great places to eat and drink within easy reach.

Our guests can enjoy exclusive clay shooting instruction courtesy of Ewelme Sporting, this is offered for couples or larger groups:
Our local pubs
Our favourite local, The Shepherd’s Hut at Ewelme is only a 5 minute cycle ride or a 30 minute walk away, the renowned Crooked Billet is a 20 minute drive, and the lovely Five Horse Shoes at Maidensgrove is a mere 30 minute cycle ride from The Chilterns View.
The Shepherds Hut
Run by our good friend Gary Flux, The Shepherd’s Hut is renowned for serving the very best Sunday Lunches in South Oxfordshire. The roaring open log fire and friendly, diverse clientele make the Shepherds Hut one of the most welcoming pubs in the area.
Make sure you mention The Chilterns View when you book a table and Gary will greet you with a complementary glass of fizz!
